The challenge is that the data saved on the digital ledger or database is only as good as the connections between the physical item and the digital ledger. The customer realized including parts provenance data with the parts they produce, refurbish, maintain, and sell would add significant value to those parts and increase their value in the marketplace. Their case study featured a large US based aircraft equipment manufacturer in the used and refurbished parts business.
Taking the win for the Blockchain category is iTRACE Technologies. Since launching, Bower Collective have been able to use the valuable insights generated from Reath’s digital passport data to engage with their customers around increasing the return rates of the packaging, improving their reuse processing and iterating on their packaging.

Reath’s software platform utilized QR codes and created digital passports, which act as a digital twin, allowing data capture of details on each physical item, anything it comes in contact with, and a timestamped record of its history. Together with Reath, they defined the main reuse cycle steps where the packaging would need to be uniquely identified: filling and cleaning.
